Synopsis Winner of the Jury Prize for Best First Feature at the 2016 Frameline, San Francisco’s LGBTQ Film Festival, “Jonathan” is a haunting and moving portrait of a family ready to unfold. They say family is the best and most important thing in life – that seems to be the very opposite in the case of Jonathan. He has an uncertain future, a dying father who cantankerously refuses to talk about his late mother, and an estranged aunt bitter about the past and the reappearance of the man at the heart of this conflict. But for all this dysfunction, Jonathon’s story is not one of despair, but hope. A beautiful and touching tale that shows no matter how great the anguish, there is always the chance to heal, forgive and open one’s heart again.
