PRISM 38
aGLIFF’S LGBTQ+ FILM FESTIVAL
OCTOBER 16-19, 2025 | GALAXY THEATERS AUSTIN
Austin’s longest-running film festival, aGLIFF returns with our signature PRISM 38 LGBTQ+ Film Festival, taking place October 16–19, 2025, at Galaxy Theaters Austin.
aGLIFF Members have been issued badges for this year’s festival but must reserve tickets to individual screenings. Guests who purchase badges must also reserve tickets for each screening they wish to attend—a badge alone does not guarantee a seat.
Individual film tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased separately (GA for opening night is $30.00). In the event of a sold-out screening, rush tickets will be available at the box office based on availability once badgeholders and ticketed guests have been seated.
The aGLIFF Board of Directors has made the decision to present a “no-frills” festival this year — a streamlined celebration designed to honor the generosity of our members, fulfill our grant obligations, and keep Queer stories on screen.
We’re also seeking volunteers to help throughout the festival weekend. Volunteering is a great way to earn a festival badge and connect with other Queer film enthusiasts while supporting Austin’s longest-running film festival.
While the future of aGLIFF remains uncertain, it’s important to note that any financial shortfall from this year’s festival will be personally absorbed by our volunteer board members, who serve without pay.
If you believe in the power of Queer film and community, please consider making a gift to help bridge the gap. Every effort will be made to maintain aGLIFF’s website and email list to continue promoting Queer indie film in Central Texas.
A NOTE FROM THE BOARD PRESIDENT AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:
PRISM 38: A Different Kind of aGLIFF, Same Queer Heart
Dear Friends,
It’s been another rough year for aGLIFF. Pride shifted into the dates we traditionally hold our festival, our funding resources remain uncertain, and—perhaps most challenging of all—our small but mighty team has been stretched far too thin.
With all that said, the board made the decision that we must bring the community together this year. The political and social climate we face is volatile at best—LGBTQ+ rights, and particularly Trans rights, are under attack in ways we have fought too long and too hard to ignore. That takes community. It takes solidarity. And it happens best when we gather, share stories, and talk about what we can do collectively to preserve the rights we’ve worked so hard to secure.
So this year’s festival—PRISM 38—will look a little different. We’ve pieced this budget together with the spotlight squarely on the films. It will be a no-frills festival: no t-shirts, no swag bags, no grand parties, no hosting dozens of filmmakers—just our community, coming together to celebrate queer stories on screen.
I want to personally thank our Artistic Director, Bears Rebecca Fonte, for agreeing to pull this year’s program together without pay. She has called in favors and rallied friends of the festival to make sure we’re still presenting world-class films. Special thanks also to Del Shores for bringing the 25th Anniversary Tour of Sordid Lives to aGLIFF for our opening night on Thursday, October 16 at Galaxy Theatres.
Here’s what you need to know:
We’ve distributed badges to our members and canceled all monthly sustaining membership fees.
A very limited number of weekend badges are available, with an option for a VIP upgrade for the Del Shores event.
Single tickets are available for all films for those who want to join us for one or two screenings.
The full lineup is live now—check it out and start planning your festival.
This year’s budget is extremely tight. If you are able, please consider making an additional donation to help us cover expenses and ensure all of our loyal vendors are paid in a timely fashion.
The future of aGLIFF is uncertain. A few of us are committed to keeping the database and website active to continue promoting queer indie film in Central Texas, and our hope is that new leadership will emerge to carry the festival forward. This isn’t goodbye—it’s the board acting responsibly to shore up our debts, celebrate our community, and pause the festival until it can once again be a broader effort for and by the community.
It has been my distinct pleasure to carry this festival forward over the past six years. I look forward to seeing you at PRISM 38.
With gratitude,
Todd Hogan
